LO.1 Barnardos♥

-Barnardo's runs 415 projects across the UK and works directly with over 100,000 families providing services for children in poverty, young carers or children who have been sexually exploited.

-We want children to belong, it’s that simple. We work with families in many ways including:
  • fostering and adoption
  •  disability
  • coping with domestic violence
-Barnardo’s Policy and Research Unit produces campaign reports, summaries and briefing papers to influence decision makers and opinion formers.

-Barnardo’s Policy and Research Unit provides the best available evidence of what works to improve outcomes for children, young people and families.

-We believe in the potential of every child and young person, no matter who they are, what they have done or what they have been through. Find out more.

-From the beginnings of Thomas Barnardo’s work in 1867 to the present day, learn all you need to know about Barnardo’s!

-Who is Barnardo's target audience?

Barnardo's has an incredibly diverse range of target groups both within and outside the organisation, e.g. staff, volunteers and donors. The primary target audience for our advertising campaign is everyone, particularly those groups of the general public who are most likely to donate to children’s charities.

-One of the main participation activities Hartbeat Participation Team coordinates for young people is Hartlepool Young Voices (HYV). HYV is a team of young people responsible for co-ordinating the views of all young people from across the town in order to influence and effect change and development through the inception of a participation strategy for the town.

  1. Evidence of research on one charity; you download info from Barnardo's website and they begin to make comments at the bottom. You recognise target audience and one activity they undertake. How can this info influence your own work? How does their campaign come across - tactics? what about analysis of their site/leaflets/adverts?
